Our Story

Tribe is a boutique wellness studio and community founded in San Francisco by brothers Nick and Billy Palladino-King in 2017. Tribe is based on their philosophy of complete health and wellness: moving well, eating well, and being well.  Tribe’s supportive community and focus on results is what makes them different from your generic fitness studio. Interested in learning more about Tribe, then read our story.

Their idea for Tribe originated after traveling the world and discovering techniques that they could combine to create powerful changes in one’s body and mind. They quickly realized that no other studio in San Francisco was offering curated fitness, personal training, yoga and nutrition programs under a single membership.

Merging their passions for health and wellness with their business backgrounds, the brothers created Tribe. With the addition of coaching, it now exists as a one-stop shop for all your health and wellness needs – inside the studio and beyond.

Our approach to wellness is based on three foundational pillars:

Personalized Training

Best Personalized Training
Inside our studio, and during virtual classes, our trainers and coaches provide you with the right technique to excel within our three modal is to wellness – Mind, Body, and Spirit. We work with each Triber to find the balance of group classes, yoga and personal training that is just right for them.

Knowledge & Expertise

Best Knowledge & Expertise
Beyond the studio, we equip our community with the latest and greatest advice when it comes to creating “Complete Health and Wellness”. We understand that everyone is unique and needs something a little different, so our members benefit from access to expert coaching, weekly health tips and exclusive workshops to help them create the results they want.

Community & Accountability

Everything we do at Tribe is in service of Community & Accountability

Everything we do at Tribe is in service of our community. That’s why we have nurtured an active and supportive global community of fellow Tribers and coaches that you can always lean on for support and guidance. Our community will help you with accountability and empower you to achieve your goals.

What’s in a Name

When picking a name and logo, “Tribe” came naturally. The brothers first sat down to decide what their core values were – what their company represents inside and out. On both their lists was ‘community’ and ‘service’, and thus the name Tribe was settled on. Pulling from their time spent in Asia, the “E” in the logo is represented by three brush strokes on top of one another – the Chinese character for 3, representing Tribe’s three modalities to wellness – Mind, Body, and Spirit.

The Founders

The Founders

Nick and Billy’s passion for wellness kicked in while working out as kids with their father. Their careers began in the corporate world, but their growing passion for fitness drove them back to health and wellness. After many years of training, coaching and learning, they wanted to create a space and a system that reflected their holistic approach.

Nick started his career in corporate sales. One night, he was jumped and robbed while walking home from a bar. When he woke up, he knew that he wanted to make massive shifts in his life, so he decided to quit his job and to move to Thailand to find himself.

After diving deeper into his personal growth and studies in yoga and philosophy, he desired to share it with professionals who were struggling with the same stress levels that he once had. He moved back to the Bay Area, where he started teaching yoga and leading teacher trainings at esteemed studios and opened his own transformative life coaching practice.

Billy began working as a personal trainer while in college. He moved to Taiwan shortly after graduating and quickly put his entrepreneurial spirit to work by starting a sports company in Taipei. He continued to offer personal training and to coach basketball, eventually coaching Taiwan’s national under-18 team.

After four years there, he moved home to the Bay Area to explore a career in finance, working as a sales trader at a hedge fund. In the evenings, he taught TRX classes and continued learning about fitness.
In 2017, Nick and Billy came across a space in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco that looked special. Soon after, Tribe was born.

In 2019, Tribe added Justin Harris to the leadership team to help support members with wellness coaching and personal growth. Justin wields a background in public health, business and executive coaching, specializing in empowering individuals and startups to grow their teams and brands. He also has built and sold various businesses. His passion lies in seeing transformation in clients when they find the confidence that already lived inside of them.

I find that leading others through yoga brings just as much balance to my internal self as it does as practicing as a student. There is an authenticity in the space that Tribe calls home. People want to be there, they encourage each other and bring a can-do attitude.
